Ryan Gosling will sing 'I'm Just Ken' at the 2024 Oscars: Who else is performing?
View Date:2024-12-24 08:56:37
Ryan Gosling will be just Ken singing at the Oscars.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences answered one of the biggest burning questions on Wednesday around the 96th Academy Awards.
Yes, "Barbie" star Gosling would perform his Oscar-nominated best song "I'm Just Ken" with song co-writer Mark Ronson during the show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. (Ronson wrote the music and lyrics with Andrew Wyatt.)
Billie Eilish and brother Finneas O'Connell will also perform "What Was I Made For?," their nominated song from "Barbie." The songs were part of a haul of "Barbie" Oscar nominations, taking a total of eight including best picture and for Gosling as best actor.
Director Greta Gerwig was denied a best director nomination and Margot Robbie was not nominated for best actress, which led to criticism, including from Gosling.
Earlier this month, Gosling said in Variety interview that he hadn't been approached to perform at the Oscars.
"It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don't know how that would work. But I'm open to it," Gosling said, before joking, "It's anthemic. So we'll need a budget."
Who will perform songs at the Oscars?
Jon Batiste, Becky G, as well as Scott George and the Osage Singers will also perform their nominated songs during the Oscars telecast, according to the show's executive producers Raj Kapoor, Molly McNearney and Katy Mullan.
